Long Bio: Josiah DeGraaf is the author of Visions of Grandeur (and Other Stories) and the Director of Operations for The Young Writer, which includes running the Young Writer’s Workshop and directing the marketing & admissions departments for the Author Conservatory. He’s spoken at a variety of homeschool & writing conferences across the U.S., including at Taylor University’s Professional Writers Conference, Teach Them Diligently Conference, and the Great Homeschool Convention.
Prior to becoming a writing teacher, Josiah taught high school English for four years in the small North Carolina town that inspired the Andy Griffith show. This experience helped inspire his upcoming novel (release date: 2025) about a magic school viewed from the teacher’s perspective.
Over the past six years, he’s taught thousands of young writers how to hone their craft and finish projects they’re proud of. In addition to working for the Young Writers Workshop, he is also the marketing director of Story Embers and a staff writer for Lorehaven. Short Bio (97 words): Josiah DeGraaf is a literature nerd who enjoys epic fantasy stories with imaginative worlds and authentic characters. He loves crafting fantastical stories about characters who face the same dilemmas we do when we try to do the right thing. He works as the program director of The Young Writer’s Workshop and also as a staff writer for Lorehaven. Outside of work and writing, he enjoys engaging in lively intellectual discussions, playing board games, hiking to gorgeous overlooks, and hanging out with his eight younger siblings. He lives in a small river town just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
